Temple tax and dove sellers. Virtual reality exhibition in Münster

Image

The VR exhibition "Temple tax and dove sellers" created in Tübingen can be seen and tried out from 19 January to 26 February 2024 at the Archaeological Museum of Münster University.

We travel back in time to Jerusalem in the year 33 AD, visit the temple and handle various ancient coins. Virtual reality can be used to exchange foreign money or pay the temple tax with a shekel from Tyre. Regional bronze coins are used to buy food or sacrifical offerings - just as the descriptions in the New Testament (Lk. 19:45-46; Mk. 11:15-19; Mt. 21:12-17 and John 2:13-16) describe trading activities in the Jerusalem temple (which, in this respect, differs little from a pagan sanctuary).
In addition to the VR presentation, the original coins are on display, two of which are on loan from Tübingen and the others from the Münster collection.
